Hi, my name is Emer, I was sixteen years old when I attended the teen program in la Hortizuela in July 2025. I am from a small rural town in the West of Ireland and spending two weeks in warm weather in Jaen, Spain was the highlight of my summer.
I first heard about Pueblo Ingles from my cousin who raved about how great it was, so the summer after that I knew I had to go. Over the course of the following months, I told my friends about the programme too. While most of them said I was mad to go by myself, 3 of my friends wanted to apply too. Even though none of us expected it we all were accepted and told that we were going to be heading to the same camp! We were so excited and after much chatting and planning in preparation Marissa, Ieva, Andreja and I booked our tickets to Madrid.
The two weeks were packed with games, activities and of course lots of one on ones but we grew to love the routine and random spontanaity of the days. It is hard to describe in a couple of words what an amazing opportunity the trip was. I got to experience culture and language and meet so many teenagers from some many different countries. I made best friends with girls from Spain, the UAE and Canada and I know that no matter what we will always remember those two weeks.
I would have considered myself as an outgoing person but Pueblo Ingles helped me to grow so much. I speak three languages and I have always loved learning Irish and French but now I even know a little bit of Spanish thanks to my friends. I’ll also never forget teaching traditional Irish dances to a group of Spanish teens, definitely one of the highlights!
Altogether Pueblo Ingles is an amazing program and an experience I will never forget.
