I was born in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean but grew up in the Islands of St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Jamaica. As a child, I would look across the sea, fascinated by the horizon separating sky from sea and from the rest of the vast world out there. It whispered “adventure” and “exploration.” Since then, I have travelled to 5 continents. However, this Pueblo Ingles experience has placed my 3-week Spanish vacation in a class of its own.
There were many factors that made our week at La Alberca unforgettable: the careful attention to every aspect of the exchange, beginning with the communication we received, even before we arrived and continuing to the last day of the programme; the opportunity to have warm, meaningful exchanges with native Spaniards about everything under the sun , learning about their country and creating friendships; meeting interesting English-speaking volunteers, some of whom were kindred spirits; the varied activities; the beautiful location at La Alberca…plus LOTS OF FUN and great food!! Sharing this experience with one of my best friends also made it very special.
I love trying new things and am, essentially, a communicator. Although my major employment has always been in the Canadian college/ university system (teaching English Literature and now, academic writing for ESL students) I have had short stints on television and stage, edited an international fashion lifestyle magazine, and organized a national educators’ conferences in Canada for eight years.
I was truly fascinated by how smoothly and meaningfully Diverbo-Pueblo Ingles was organized. It’s always the heart that counts. Pueblo Ingles was truly the perfect combination of mind and heart!
I can’t wait to return!
